The number

A live score, not a static checklist

The Upkeep Score is a single 0–100 figure that sits at the top of your Home page. It reads three things at once: how much of the maintenance that came due got done, how much of your project backlog is sitting still, and how ready the house is, meaning the warranties, appliance reminders, and other things with dates on them. Put together, they describe the health of the home as it stands today.

Because it's live, the number moves as your home moves. Close out a project and it ticks up. Let a high-priority repair stall or a seasonal task slip past due, and it drifts down. Adding tasks never lowers it. A task you added today is pending rather than overdue, because Eave only counts a season that has passed. Badges appear as you earn them, and your streak shows on the score card without moving the number. Nothing about it is generic — two identical houses with different backlogs will show different scores.

A to-do list tells you there's work. A number tells you whether you're winning or losing — and that's the difference between something you glance at and something you act on.

What raises the score, and what lowers it

Raises it

Closing out open projects, doing this season's maintenance before the season ends, and handling the reminders with dates on them. The score rewards the work that keeps a home healthy, which is clearing the backlog.

Lowers it

Letting a high-priority project stall, missing a whole season of maintenance, or an appliance reminder or warranty going past its date with nothing logged. How consistent you've been is shown for interest and doesn't move the number. If you bought the house in the last ninety days, nothing reads as overdue yet, and your score starts fresh.

Why a number beats a to-do list

A list of tasks never tells you how you're doing overall — you can clear ten items and still be behind, or ignore the list entirely and not feel it until something breaks. A single score you can watch trend up or down turns upkeep from a pile of chores into something you can actually manage. That's the point: a number that means something is easier to act on than a list that never ends.
